Throughout my life, I have worn many hats—as a woman, a friend, a partner, a wife, a mother, and a single mother.
In every chapter, I poured my heart into caring for the happiness of others,
striving to do my best in whatever environment I found myself in.
Yet, amidst the relentless hustle of daily life, I often found myself pausing,
feeling as though "myself" had been left somewhere far behind.
I came to a profound realization: I had neglected to cherish the person who needed it most—myself.
I understood then that if I could not fill my own cup with happiness,
I could never truly overflow that joy onto the people around me.
And so, I began making conscious choices to nurture my own well-being.
Taking a brief pause to brew a meticulous cup of coffee in my favorite mug.
Choosing an outfit that makes me feel entirely at ease on an ordinary day.
Slipping on a piece of jewelry that sparks a quiet moment of joy from the very instant it touches my skin.
These small, simple rituals of self-care became my sanctuary, restoring my smile and inner peace.
My career path—beginning with an airline and later leading to roles in luxury hospitality and as an executive concierge
—blessed me with priceless encounters.
Through these experiences, I discovered countless hidden gems across Japan:
small, nameless ateliers and independent artists crafting works of breathtaking beauty.
I was deeply moved by the essence of Japanese aesthetics—
the refined art of minimalism ("the sense of subtraction"), the serene philosophy of Wabi-Sabi,
and the spirit of Mottainai, which honors and extends the life of materials.
Beyond the vibrant energy of Tokyo lies the warmth and unparalleled craftsmanship of tiny rural villages.
Yet, because of language barriers and unseen walls,
these incredible treasures remained hidden from the world.
Traveling extensively and living between cultures with my German husband,
the feeling grew stronger with every journey to Europe and beyond:
I want the world to know the true splendor of Japan.
This is why I founded this brand, Watashi.Living.
